Rear Park Brake Cable (Left): Installation

  1. Connect the cable to the backing plate. See Figure. Connect the cable to the park brake lever.
  2. Install the brake shoes. See BRAKE SHOES . Install the brake drums. See BRAKE DRUM .
  3. Parking brake adjustment is not necessary. This is a self adjusting system and damage may result from attempting to adjust or modify this system in any way. It may be necessary to adjust the rear brakes to obtain the proper tension in the system. See DRUM BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  4. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Connect the cables to the bracket. Connect the cable to the equalizer. Lower the vehicle.
