Rear Brake Hose: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly. Clean the dirt and foreign material from the brake hoses and fittings.
    NOTE: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting end to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  2. Remove the rear brake pipe from the brake hose, then cap or plug the brake pipe end.
  3. Remove the retainer clip from the brake hose. See Fig 1. Remove the brake hose from the bracket. Remove the rear brake hose retaining bolt from the rear brake hose bracket.
  4. Remove the rear brake hose banjo bolt from the rear brake hose and wheel cylinder. See Fig 2. Discard the 2 copper brake hose gaskets and remove the brake hose from the vehicle.
