Proportioning Valve: Removal

  1. Remove the battery tray.
    NOTE: Note the locations of the brake pipes in order to aid in installation.
  2. Disconnect the 2 brake pipes from the proportioning valve. See Fig 1. Use bleeder valve caps or similar caps to plug the ends of the brake pipes in order to prevent brake fluid from draining out of the pipes and to avoid brake fluid contamination.
  3. Disconnect the 4 brake pipes from the proportioning valve. Use bleeder valve caps or similar caps to plug the ends of the brake pipes in order to prevent brake fluid from draining out of the pipes and to avoid brake fluid contamination.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable hoist.
  5. Remove the left inner fender shield.
    • Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
    • Remove the screws from the mud flap, if equipped. Remove the mud flap from the fender, if equipped.
    • Remove the front fender liner to front bumper fascia bolts. See Fig 2. Remove the push-in retainers from the front fender liner.
    • Remove the front fender liner to front fender bolts. See Fig 3. Remove the front fender liner from the front fender.
  6. Remove the 2 proportioning valve bracket bolts and remove the proportioning valve assembly from the vehicle. See Fig 4.
