Brake Pedal Assembly: Removal
- Turn ignition switch OFF. Remove the left instrument panel insulator.
- Remove the push pins from the left half of the sound insulator on the drivers side and remove from the instrument panel (I/P) carrier. See Fig 1.
- Remove the bolts from the right half of the sound insulator on the drivers side and remove from the I/P carrier.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal. See Fig 2. Squeeze the accelerator cable cover tangs and push the accelerator cable through the bulkhead.
- Remove the accelerator cable shield, if equipped.
- Disconnect the accelerator cable from the retaining clip, the throttle body lever and the accelerator cable bracket.
- Remove the accelerator cable from vehicle noting cable routing.
- Disconnect the brake pedal pushrod from the brake pedal. See Fig 3.
- Remove the stoplight switch from the brake pedal.
- Disconnect the electrical connections from the stoplight switch. See Fig 4.
- Rotate the stoplight switch counterclockwise until the travel stop has been reached.
- Pull the stoplight switch rearward. Remove the stoplight switch from the retainer.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the brake pedal.
- Remove the upper and the lower mounting nuts from the brake pedal assembly. See Fig 5. Remove the brake pedal assembly.
