Proportioning Valve: Installation

  1. Remove the plugs from the proportioning valve assembly. Install the proportioning valve assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Install the master cylinder mounting nuts. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Remove the caps or plugs from the master cylinder brake pipe ends.
  4. Connect the master cylinder brake pipes to the proportioning valve assembly. See Figure .
  5. Tighten the brake pipe fittings at the proportioning valve assembly to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Remove the caps or plugs from the caliper and wheel cylinder brake pipe ends. Connect the caliper and wheel cylinder brake pipes to the proportioning valve assembly. Tighten the brake pipe fittings at the proportioning valve assembly to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING THE BRAKE SYSTEM  .


  1. Remove the caps or plugs from the brake pipe ends.
  2. Install the proportioning valves.
  3. Connect the brake pipe fittings at the in-line proportioning valves. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING THE BRAKE SYSTEM  .
