Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connector for the cigar lighter, if equipped.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors for the headlamp dimmer switch.
  3. Align the retaining tabs (2) with the I/P carrier.
  4. Install the I/P trim plate (3). Press the plate into the I/P carrier to engage the retainers (2).
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the screws (1) to the I/P trim plate (3).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 2.3 N.m (20 lb in).

  6. Install the I/P trim pad. Refer to TRIM PAD REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) (CHEVROLET)  or TRIM PAD REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) (PONTIAC)  .
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM , and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in SIR.
