Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  2. Remove the center lower closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Lower (GMC/Chevrolet) .
  3. Remove the lower trim plate retaining screws.

  4. Starting at the bottom of the trim plate, release the 2 lower retaining clips and the 2 intermediate retaining clips.
  5. Release the 3 upper retaining clips.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors as necessary.
  7. If replacing the trim plate, perform the following steps:
    1. If equipped, remove the transfer case shift control switch. Refer to TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CONTROL SWITCH REPLACEMENT (GMC, BUICK) or TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CONTROL SWITCH REPLACEMENT (CHEVROLET) .
    2. Remove the rear windshield wiper switch. Refer to WIPER/WASHER SWITCH REPLACEMENT - REAR in Wiper/Washer Systems.
    3. If equipped, remove the cigar lighter and 12-volt power supply. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing or 12 Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement .
