Disabling System
WARNING:
Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Read and follow service precautions. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
NOTE:
When AIR BAG fuse is removed and ignition is on, AIR BAG warning light will be on. This is a normal condition and does not indicate a system malfunction.
- Turn steering wheel to place vehicle wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition off and remove key.
- Remove AIR BAG fuse from inline fuse holder, located near base of steering column. Remove steering column opening trim plate. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from driver-side air bag module Yellow 2-pin connector, located at base of steering column. See Fig 1. Disconnect connector.
- Open glove box. Push in on left and right stoppers and allow glove box to swing open past stops. See Fig 2. Remove CPA clip from passenger-side air bag module Yellow 2-pin connector, located behind glove box. See Fig 3. Disconnect connector.
