Brake Pedal: Installation

  1. Apply Lubriplate(R) Lubricant, (1052196 US; 5264008 Canada), or the equivalent, to the spacer and the bushings. See Figure .
  2. Install the spacer and the bushings to the brake pedal. Apply Lubriplate(R) Lubricant, (1052196 US; 5264008 Canada), or the equivalent, to the return spring. See Figure .
    3. CAUTION: DO NOT hook the return spring on the brake pedal lever before installing the pedal to the bracket.
  3. Install the return spring to the brake pedal. See Figure .
  4. Install the brake pedal and the pivot pin bolt to the bracket. See Figure .
  5. Install the nut to the pivot pin bolt. Tighten to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Install the brake pedal push rod clevis pin. Install the retainer to the clevis pin. Connect the stoplight switch.
  7. Hook the return spring on the brake pedal lever. Measure the brake pedal travel. Adjust if necessary. See BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL AND MEASUREMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS. Measure the distance from the stoplight switch to the brake pedal stopper. Adjust if necessary. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.


  1. Apply Lubriplate(R) Lubricant, (1052196 US; 5264008 Canada), or equivalent, to the clutch pedal pull back spring. See Figure .
  2. Install the clutch pedal assembly into the vehicle.
  3. Install the 4 nuts at the bottom of the clutch/brake pedal bracket and tighten to specification.
  4. Install the 3 bolts at the top of the clutch/brake pedal bracket and tighten to specification.
  5. Install the brake pedal push rod clevis pin and retainer.
  6. Install the clutch master cylinder push rod clevis pin and retainer.
  7. Connect the release clutch pedal position switch.
  8. Connect the stoplight switch.
  9. Connect the manual transmission clutch start switch.
  10. Hook the return spring on the brake pedal lever. Measure the brake pedal travel. See BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL AND MEASUREMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  11. Measure the distance from the stoplight switch to the brake pedal stopper. Adjust if necessary. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
