Instrument Panel Installation Procedure

  1. Install the IP assembly (2) to the vehicle. Secure the IP with the 2 upper IP mounting bolts (1). Do not tighten completely at this time.

  3. Install the bolt (2) that is located in the steering column area that retains the IP assembly (1). Do not tighten completely at this time.

  5. Install the 2 center IP mounting bolts (4) at each side that retain the IP assembly (2). Do not tighten completely at this time.
  6. NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  7. Install the 2 bolts (3, 6) at each side that retain the IP assembly (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten all of the instrument panel mounting bolts to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  8. Reposition the floor panel carpet around the center of the IP assembly (2).
  9. Install the left upper IP bolt trim cover to the IP assembly.
  10. Install the right upper IP bolt trim cover to the IP assembly.
  11. Install the ambient light sensor. Refer to DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (DRL) AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR REPLACEMENT .
  12. Install the bolt that retains the IP wiring harness ground wire. The bolt and the ground wire are located to the left front of the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM).
  13. Connect the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) electrical connector. Secure the connector with the connector position assurance (CPA).
  14. Connect the radio antenna cable lead to the extension cable in the junction block area.
  15. Connect the 6 IP wiring harness electrical connectors to the junction block.
  16. Install the windshield side garnish moldings.

  18. Install the hood latch release handle (1) to the IP assembly (3). Secure the handle with the screw (2).
  19. Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
  20. Install the inflatable restraint IP module. Refer to SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM) .

  22. Install the fresh/recirc control cable (1) to the blower case (3).

  24. Install the temperature control cable (1) to the heater case (2).

  26. Install the mode control cable (3) to the heater case.
  27. Adjust the heater control cables as necessary. Refer to the following procedures in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning:
  28. Install the IP steering column opening trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Left .
  29. Install the IP compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) .
  30. Install the front floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor .
  31. Enable the SIR System. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM in SIR.
  32. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
