Brake Pedal: Disassembly

NOTE: Before removing the clutch pedal shaft arm from the clutch pedal shaft, place a reference mark on the clutch pedal shaft and clutch pedal shaft arm for reassembly reference. If the clutch pedal shaft arm is installed in a position other than the one from which it was removed, the clutch release lever travel will increase or decrease resulting in a misadjusted clutch pedal.
  1. Remove the clutch pedal arm bolt and nut. Remove the clutch pedal arm and lever.
  2. Remove the clutch pedal shaft and bushings from clutch/brake pedal bracket. See Figure .
  3. Remove the brake pedal return spring from the clutch pedal shaft.
  4. Inspect the return spring for distortion or weakness. Replace the return spring if necessary. Remove the brake pedal from the clutch pedal shaft.
  5. Inspect the brake pedal for distortion or damage. Replace the brake pedal if necessary.
