Removal Procedure

Important:  When replacing a speedometer or an odometer assembly, the law requires the odometer reading of the replacement unit to be set to register the same mileage as the prior odometer.

If the same mileage cannot be set, then the law requires the following actions to take place:

  1. Remove the instrument cluster retainer. Refer to BEZEL REPLACEMENT - IP Cluster .

    Important:  Do not remove the needle from the speedometer. There is no detent or flat spot on the shaft in order to indicate the correct placement.

  2. Remove the 5 screws (2) which secure the speedometer to the instrument cluster case.

  4. Remove the speedometer (2) from the instrument cluster case.
