Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake pads, insulators, retainers, and the wear indicator to the caliper housing. Refer to Brake Pads Replacement .
  2. Install the caliper to the caliper bracket.
  3. Apply Lubriplate® Lubricant, GM P/N 12346293, or an equivalent lubricant meeting the requirements of NLGI #2 Category LB or GC-LB, to the caliper pin bolts.
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  4. Install the 2 caliper pin bolts (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the caliper pin bolts to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  5. Install the brake hose union bolt (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten brake hose union bolt to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the master cylinder fluid reservoir. Refer to MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FILLING .
  9. Bleed the brakes. Refer to HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING .
