Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
NOTE:
Brake fluid will damage electrical connections and painted surfaces. Use shop cloths, suitable containers, and fender covers to prevent brake fluid from contacting these areas. Always re-seal and wipe off brake fluid containers to prevent spills.
Important: Ensure that the master cylinder reservoir is properly filled with brake fluid for the following reasons:
- In order to ensure an adequate fluid reserve
- In order to prevent air from entering the hydraulic system
Do not overfill the master cylinder reservoir because of expansion due to heat absorbed from the brakes and from the engine.
- Thoroughly clean the cap for the brake fluid reservoir before removal in order to prevent dirt from entering the reservoir.
- Remove the cap for the reservoir (1).
- Fill the reservoir with brake fluid, GM P/N 12377967, or the equivalent DOT 3 brake fluid, until the fluid reaches the MAX mark.
- Install the cap for the reservoir.
