Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE

- Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- If the vehicle has an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), remove the bolt (2) for the ABS wheel speed sensor and the sensor (1) from the steering knuckle. Position the sensor to the side.

- Remove the front brake hose bolt and the hose from the strut. Position the hose and the bolt to the side.
- Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement .
- Remove the steering knuckle from the vehicle. Refer to STEERING KNUCKLE REPLACEMENT
. It is not necessary to remove the front ball joint from the steering knuckle in order to remove the brake shield.
- Clamp the steering knuckle in a soft jawed vise.
- Remove the inner seal shield from the steering knuckle.

- Remove the inner oil seal from the steering knuckle using the J 26941 and the J 25907.

- Remove the front wheel bearing retainer from the steering knuckle using snap ring pliers.
- Remove the 3 brake shield bolts from the steering knuckle using a TORX® wrench (T30).
- Remove the hub and the brake shield from the steering knuckle using the J 25287 and the J 35378.
- Remove the brake shield from the hub.
