Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover (Left) - Replacement  or Valve Rocker Arm Cover (Right) - Replacement  .
  2. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold (Lower) - Replacement .
  3. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm & Push Rod - Replacement .
  4. Remove the lifter guide bolts.
  5. Remove the lifter guide.

    Important:  Place the valve train parts in a rack in order to ensure that they are installed in the same location from which they were removed.

  6. Remove the lifters.
