Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new right cylinder head gasket.
  2. Install the right cylinder head over the locator pins and over the gasket.
  3. Install NEW cylinder head bolts Tighten the bolts in sequence to 60 N.m (44 ft lbs). Using the J 36660-A  , rotate the bolts an additional 95 degrees. See Figure
  4. Install the right exhaust manifold.
  5. Install the right spark plugs.
  6. Install the generator.
  7. Install the fuel line bracket.
  8. Install the right spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
  9. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.
  10. Install the pushrods and valve rocker arms. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm & Push Rod - Replacement .
  11. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold (Lower) - Replacement .
  12. Fill the crankcase with engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil & Oil Filter Replacement .
  13. Install the fuel line bracket bolt and stud. Tighten the bolt and stud to 20 N.m (15 ft lbs).
  14. Fill the cooling system.
  15. Inspect for leaks.
