Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (3.4L) in Engine Electrical.
  4. Remove the generator bracket. Refer to Generator Bracket Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Remove the right spark plug wires.

  7. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the EVAP purge valve.
  8. Remove the EVAP purge valve.
  9. Remove the ignition coil bracket with the coils. Refer to IGNITION COILS .
  10. Remove the ignition coil bracket studs.
  11. Remove the vacuum hose from the grommet in the right valve rocker arm cover.

  13. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover bolts.
  14. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover.
  15. Remove the right valve rocker arm cover gasket.
  16. Clean the valve rocker arm cover gasket mating surfaces.
