Test S: Volt Gauge Inaccurate Or Inoperative

  1. Perform instrument panel cluster system diagnostic system check. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If instrument panel cluster system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Start engine. Using scan tool, perform VOLTS GAGE SWEEP TEST. If volt gauge moves up and down on command, check for intermittent problem. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  . Repair or replace as necessary. After repair, go to step  4 . If volt gauge does not move up and down on command, go to next step.
  3. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION and go to next step.
  4. Check volt gauge operation. If system operates normally, repair is complete. If problem still exists, return to step  2 .
