Test G: Driver Information Center (DIC) Temperature Display Inaccurate Or Inoperative
- Perform driver information center system diagnostic system check. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If driver information center system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set DIC to compass/temperature display and compare with ambient temperature. If display temperature agrees with ambient temperature, check for intermittent problem. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS . Repair or replace as necessary. After repair, go to step 10 . If display temperature does not agree with ambient temperature, go to next step.
- Disconnect ambient air temperature sensor, located on front radiator air baffle. Connect Signal Generator and Instrument Panel Tester (J33431-C) between ambient air temperature sensor harness connector terminals. Set resistance on Signal Generator and Instrument Panel Tester (J33431-C) to 3047 ohms. Verify resistance setting with an ohmmeter. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If DIC does not display 130°F (54°C), go to next step. If DIC displays 130°F (54°C), go to step 6 .
- Check for high resistance in Light Green/Black wire between ambient air temperature sensor and DIC Black 9-pin connector C1 terminal No. 10. Repair as necessary and go to step 10 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wire is okay, go to next step.
- Check for high resistance in Black/White wire between ambient air temperature sensor and ground connector G203. See Figure . Repair as necessary and go to step 10 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wire is okay, go to step 7 .
- Disconnect ambient air temperature sensor connector. Check for poor connection at ambient air temperature sensor connector. Repair as necessary and go to step 10 . If connection is okay, go to step 8 .
- Disconnect DIC connector. Check for poor connection at DIC connector. Repair as necessary and go to step 10 . If connection is okay, go to step 9 .
- Replace ambient air temperature sensor. After repair, go to step 10 .
- Replace DIC and calibrate compass. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, repair is complete. If system does not operate normally, return to step 2 .
