Park Brake Cables: Installation

  1. Install the front cable into the vehicle. Connect the cable to the parking brake lever.
  2. Install the cable button in the lever clevis. Install the cable button clip to the lever clevis.
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Tighten the nut on the equalizer in order to remove the slack in the cable.
  4. Lower the vehicle. Install the parking brake cable through the park brake cable guides.
  5. Position the carpeting properly. Install the lower center pillar trim panel on the left side. Install the left side carpet retainers.
  6. Install the left side instrument panel insulator. Adjust the parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.


  1. Position the park brake cable into the support bracket and install the cable retaining pin. Install the park brake cable to the actuator lever.
  2. Connect the retainer that holds the cable to the support bracket. Connect the rear cable to the front cable.
  3. For the right rear cable, connect the cable to the clip.
  4. For the left rear cable, install the equalizer stud to the equalizer nut, which is part of the equalizer assembly.
  5. Adjust the park brake. See PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  in PARK BRAKE SYSTEM under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS. Lower the vehicle.
