Master Cylinder: Installation

  1. Bench bleed the master cylinder. See BENCH BLEEDING MASTER CYLINDER  under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM. Install the master cylinder to the power brake booster. Install the master cylinder mounting nuts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Remove the plugs from the brake pipes. Connect the brake pipes to the master cylinder. Tighten the brake pipe fittings at the master cylinder to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. If you are performing repairs on a 3.4L, non ABS Impala, it is necessary to install the bracket to the master cylinder. Connect the electrical connector to the brake fluid level sensor. Bleed the brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  .
