Disc Brake Hardware: Installation

  1. Lubricate the bores, the inside part of the bolt boot and the caliper pin bolts with GM P/N 18047666, or equivalent.
  2. Press the new caliper pin bolt boots into the caliper pin bores. Install the brake caliper bracket. See BRAKE CALIPER BRACKETS  .
  3. Install the brake pad retainers to the caliper bracket. Install the brake pads to the caliper bracket.
  4. Remove the heavy mechanics wire and install the brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPERS  .


  1. Clean all parts in clean, denatured alcohol. Dry with low pressure, non-lubricated, filtered air.
  2. Inspect the brake caliper bracket for cracks. If cracked, replace bracket. Lubricate the brake caliper pin bolt sleeves with high temperature silicone lubricant.
  3. Install the brake caliper bracket. See BRAKE CALIPER BRACKETS  .
  4. Install the brake pad retainers to the bracket caliper bracket. Install the brake pads to the bracket caliper bracket.
  5. Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper bracket. See BRAKE CALIPERS  .
