Disc Brake Backing Plate: Installation
- Install the park brake shoe and actuator onto the backing plate. Position the park brake shoe, actuator, and backing plate over the rear hub. Install the park brake cable bracket and the 2 retainers. Install the rear hub. See REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY . The rear hub, backing plate, park brake cable bracket, and park brake actuator will be installed as an assembly.
- Install and connect the rear park brake cable to the bracket at the rear wheel. See PARK BRAKE CABLES . Connect the park brake cable return spring to the park brake actuator and bracket at the rear wheel. Install the rear rotor. See BRAKE ROTORS . Install the rear caliper bracket. See BRAKE CALIPER BRACKETS . Install the rear wheels and tires. Adjust the park brake at the equalizer. See PARKING BRAKE under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS. Lower the vehicle. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
