Removal (Rear)

  1. Inspect the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir. If the brake fluid level is midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, then no brake fluid needs to be removed from the reservoir before proceeding. If the brake fluid level is higher than midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, then remove brake fluid to the midway point before proceeding.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Remove the rear tire and the wheel assembly. Install a hand tightened lug nut to retain the rotor to the hub. Compress the caliper piston enough for clearance. Use a C-clamp. Remove the upper caliper bolt.
  3. Pivot the caliper down in order to access the pads. It is not necessary to remove the caliper. Remove the brake pads from the caliper bracket. Remove the 2 pad clips from the caliper bracket.
