Disc Brake Hardware: Removal
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Remove the tire and the wheel assembly.
- Remove the front brake caliper from the mounting bracket and support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire or equivalent. See BRAKE CALIPER .
- Remove the front outboard brake pad. Use a flat-bladed tool to disengage the bottoms on the front brake pad from the holes in the front brake caliper housing.
- Remove the front inboard brake pad.
- Replace the caliper bolts, bushings, and sleeves.
NOTE:
Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic's wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from it's mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
