Test R: Hatch Ajar Indicator Inoperative: Testing
- If diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform BODY REAR END DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- On automatic transmissions, place gearshift selector in Park. On manual transmissions, apply parking brake. Actuate rear compartment lid switch to release rear compartment lid. If hatch ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If hatch ajar indicator illuminates, inspect for intermittents or poor connections. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
- Disconnect rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch. Rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch is located near rear compartment lid release actuator. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch harness connector terminal "B" (Orange/Black wire). If hatch ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to next step. If hatch ajar indicator illuminates, go to step 5.
- Inspect Orange/Black wire for an open or high resistance between ground and rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch harness connector terminal "B". If an open or high resistance is not found, go to step 7. If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary then go to step 9.
- Inspect Black wire for an open or high resistance between ground and rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch harness connector terminal "A". If an open or high resistance is not found, go to next step. If an open or high resistance is found, repair as necessary then go to step 9.
- Inspect rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch harness connector for poor connections. If poor connections are not found, go to step 8. If poor connections are found, repair as necessary then go to step 9.
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Program IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under PROGRAMMING. After replacement, go to step 9.
- Replace rear compartment lid ajar indicator switch, then go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If condition has been corrected, system is operating correctly at this time. If condition has not been corrected, repeat test procedure beginning at step 3.
