Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake
  2. Raise and support the vehicle
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly
  4. Fig 1: Park Brake Cable Equalizeer Nut

  5. Relieve the tension from the park brake cables by loosening the nut at the equalizer
  6. Remove the rear park brake cable from the park brake actuator lever
  7. Remove the park brake cable from the mounting bracket by depressing the locking tabs
  8. Remove the rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Except Dual Wheels or NYS) , Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (Dual Wheels)   or Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (W/NYS - 4-Wheel Steering) 
  9. Remove the axle shaft. Refer to REAR AXLE SHAFT REPLACEMENT (8.6 & 9.5 INCH AXLES) or REAR AXLE SHAFT REPLACEMENT (9.75 INCH AXLE)
  10. Remove the park brake shoe. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (15/25/35 Series - Except RPO NYS - 4-Wheel Steering)

  12. Remove the backing plate nuts
  13. Remove the backing plate from the axle housing flange
