Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position and remove the key.
    NOTE: Note the relationship of the upper intermediate shaft to the lower intermediate shaft and the upper intermediate shaft to the steering column in order to ensure proper installation.
  3. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  4. Remove the nut and the bolt that retain the upper intermediate shaft to the steering column.
  5. Remove the upper intermediate shaft from the steering column.
