Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION .
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to KNEE BOLSTER REPLACEMENT .
  3. Remove the steering column trim covers from the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  4. Disconnect the steering column bulkhead electrical connectors.

  5. Remove the wire harness (1) from the wire harness strap (2) and the steering column.

  6. Slide the connectors (2) of the turn signal and multifunction switch out of the bulkhead connector (1).

  7. Remove the key alarm connector (1) from the lock module (2) in the following way:
    1. 7.1. Rotate the key alarm connector (1) 90 degrees.
    2. 7.2. Pull the key alarm connector (1) out of the lock module (2).
    3. 7.3. Remove the passkey electrical connector from the lock module (2).

  8. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the electric park lock (1), for vehicles equipped with floor shifter.

  9. Disengage the ignition switch releasing tabs by using J 42759  .
  10. Remove the ignition switch (2) from the lock module (1).
