Diagnostic System Check

  1. Did you review DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT ? If so, go to next step. If not, go to DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT .
  2. Install a scan tool. Does the scan tool power up? If so, go to next step. If not, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSIS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  3. Turn ignition on. Attempt to establish communication with the PCM. Does the scan tool communicate with the PCM? If so, go to next step. If not, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSIS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  4. Select the PCM display DTCs function on the scan tool. Does the scan tool display any DTCs? If so, go to next step. If not, see SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .
  5. Does the scan tool display any DTCs which begin with a "U"? If so, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSIS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If not, go to next step.
  6. Does the scan tool display DTC P0530? If so, see appropriate MANUAL A/C-HEATER SYSTEMS article. If the scan tool display any other DTCs, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSIS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
