Description & Operation: Notes

NOTE: References to HVAC are manufacturers terms for the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system. This term is also used for non air conditioned vehicles to describe the system in general. Many components referred to in this article are for air conditioned vehicles only. The manufacturer does not separate the HVAC component tests or removal and installation procedures by "heater only" or "air conditioned only" information.

HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system is an electronically controlled blend-air system. Air entering vehicle must pass through or around, heater core and/or evaporator core to provide air of desired temperature. When defrost is activated, the air conditioning compressor comes on, dehumidifying the air prior to heating. This provides dry air to eliminate moisture on the windshield.
