Pedal Stays On Floor (Clutch Disengaged): Notes

  1. Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT .
  2. Inspect for the master cylinder pushrod to have fallen off the clutch pedal. Has the master cylinder pushrod fallen off the clutch pedal? If yes, go to step  4. If no, go to next step.
  3. Inspect the clutch hydraulic line. Is the hydraulic line bursting or leaking? If no, go to next step.
  4. Install the master cylinder pushrod. See CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER & RESERVOIR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to step  6.
  5. Replace the master cylinder and hydraulic line assembly. CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER & RESERVOIR . Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  6. Inspect the reservoir for fluid. Is there fluid in the reservoir? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  7. Fill the reservoir with fluid. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  8. Inspect the master cylinder for being faulty. Is the master cylinder faulty? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  9. Replace the master cylinder. See CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER & RESERVOIR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  10. Remove the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect the concentric slave cylinder for binding. Is there binding on the concentric slave cylinder? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  11. Replace the clutch release bearing. See CONCENTRIC SLAVE (ACTUATOR) CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  12. Inspect the clutch diaphragm spring. Are the diaphragm springs weak or broken? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  14.
  13. Replace the pressure plate. See CLUTCH ASSEMBLY & PILOT BEARING  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find a repair the condition? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  14. Install the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
