Clutch Pedal Spongy: Notes

  1. Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT .
  2. Inspect the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Is the fluid level low? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  3. Fill the reservoir with clean brake fluid. Is the reservoir properly filled? If yes, go to next step.
  4. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. See BLEEDING . Does the clutch system operate properly? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  5. Inspect the clutch master cylinder. Is the master cylinder faulty? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  6. Replace the clutch master cylinder. See CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER & RESERVOIR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Does the clutch operate properly? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  7. Remove the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect the concentric slave cylinder. Is the concentric slave cylinder faulty? If yes, go to next step. If no, system is okay.
  8. Replace the concentric slave cylinder. See CONCENTRIC SLAVE (ACTUATOR) CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  9. Install the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
