Clutch Does Not Disengage

  1. Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT .
  2. Inspect for a pedal travel restriction. Is the vehicle equipped with a aftermarket floor covering? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  4.
  3. Remove the aftermarket floor covering. Does the clutch work properly? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  4. Test the clutch system. See DIAGNOSTIC STARTING POINT . Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  5. Test for air in the clutch hydraulic system. Is there air in the clutch hydraulic system? If yes, go to step  7. If no, go to next step.
  6. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. See BLEEDING . Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  7. Inspect the master cylinder for worn seals. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  9.
  8. Replace the necessary components. See CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER & RESERVOIR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Did you find and repair the condition? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  9. Remove the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect for a worn or faulty concentric slave cylinder. Is the concentric slave cylinder worn or damaged? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  11.
  10. Replace the concentric slave cylinder or release bearing. See CONCENTRIC SLAVE (ACTUATOR) CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Does the clutch operate properly? If yes, system is okay. If no, go to next step.
  11. Remove the clutch assembly. Inspect the clutch assembly for a damaged or worn clutch disc and binding on the clutch disc. Are the clutch components OK? If no, go to next step.
  12. Replace the clutch disc. See CLUTCH ASSEMBLY & PILOT BEARING  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step.
  13. Install the transmission. See TRANSMISSION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
