Removal Procedure

- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the spare tire from the vehicle.
- Remove the bolts (1) retaining the steering gear motor (2) to the steering gear.
- Remove the steering gear motor from the steering gear.
- Cover the steering gear motor opening to keep contamination out of the oil in the planetary gear assembly.
- Remove the wiring harness from the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the control module (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the rear position sensor.
- Remove the steering gear motor and wiring harness from the vehicle.
