Removal Procedure

    NOTE: Refer to Rear Wheel Steering Lifting and Jacking Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the rack and pinion boot from the steering gear. Refer to Rack and Pinion Boot Replacement .
    4. IMPORTANT: The inner tie rod support clamp has right hand threads. The inner tie rod support nut has left hand threads. To remove the support clamp turn the clamp counterclockwise.

  4. Using the J 44665-1  (1) and J 44665-2  (2) to remove the inner tie rod support clamp.

  5. Remove the inner tie rod (1) from the steering gear using the J 44665-2  (2).
