Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT: Make sure the rack and pinion boot is seated in the groove (2) on the steering gear actuator.

Install the boot to the steering gear.

Install the outer clamp (1) retaining the boot (2) to the steering gear.

Install the inner clamp (3) retaining the boot (2) to the steering gear.

Using the J 22610 , crimp the retaining clamp (1) to the steering gear.

Install the rack and pinion boot protector (1) to the rack and pinion boot (2), if equipped.

Install the tie rod jam nut (2) to the inner tie rod.
Install the outer tie rod. Refer to Rear Wheel Steering Tie Rod End Replacement - Outer .
Perform a four wheel alignment. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment (w/Rear Wheel Steering) or Measuring Wheel Alignment (w/o Rear Wheel Steering) .
