Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the passenger side front fender. Refer to Fender Replacement - Front - Right in Body Front End.
  2. Remove the starter/generator control module (SGCM). Refer to Starter/Generator Control Module (SGCM) Replacement (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2) .
  3. Remove the SGCM bracket nuts and bolt.
  4. Remove the SGCM bracket.
  5. Remove the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  6. Remove the 42-volt positive/negative cable grommet nuts (1) from the front of dash.
  7. Push the 42-volt positive/negative cable grommet through the front of dash.
  8. Remove the hinge pillar trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Hinge Pillar in Interior Trim.
  9. Remove the 42-volt positive/negative cable clip (2) from at the right cowl panel.
  10. Remove the door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front in Interior Trim.
  11. Reposition the carpet.
  12. Remove the 42-volt positive/negative cable channel rear nut (3).

  14. Disengage the 42-volt positive/negative cable channel from the studs on the floor.
  15. Remove the 42-volt positive/negative cable retainer nuts, and retainer.

  17. Disconnect the 42-volt positive/negative cable electrical connector (4).
  18. Disconnect the 120-volt AC electrical connector (3).
  19. Remove the ground strap nut (1).
  20. Remove the ground straps from the stud (2).

  22. Remove the 42-volt positive/negative cable.
