Installation Procedure

  1. Install the 42-volt positive/negative cable.
  2. Install the ground straps from the stud (2).
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the ground strap nut (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  4. Connect the 120-volt AC electrical connector (3).
  5. Connect the 42-volt positive/negative cable electrical connector (4).

  7. Install the 42-volt positive/negative cable retainer and nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  9. Engage the 42-volt positive/negative cable channel to the studs on the floor.
  10. Install the 42-volt positive/negative cable channel rear nut (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  11. Position the carpet.
  12. Install the door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement - Front in Interior Trim.
  13. Install the 42-volt positive/negative cable clip (2) at the right cowl panel.
  14. Push the 42-volt positive/negative cable grommet through the front of dash.
  15. Install the hinge pillar trim. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Hinge Pillar in Interior Trim.
  16. Install the 42-volt positive/negative cable grommet nuts (1) to the front of dash.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  18. Install the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  19. Install the SGCM bracket.
  20. Install the SGCM bracket nuts and bolt.

    Tighten: 

    • Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
    • Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  21. Install the SGCM. Refer to Starter/Generator Control Module (SGCM) Replacement (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2) .
  22. Install the passenger side front fender. Refer to Fender Replacement - Front - Right in Body Front End.
