Installation Procedure

  1. Install the 14V positive/negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle.
  3. Slide the channel pin into the oil pan tab.
  4. Install the starter harness branch clips to the battery channel.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the battery cable channel bolt (4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  6. Position the ground wire (5) and forward lamp harness ground (7).
  7. Install the forward lamp wiring harness ground/negative cable bolt (6).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  8. Position the wiring harness ground (3) and battery cable ground (1).
  9. Install the engine wiring harness ground/negative cable bolt (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.

  12. Install the 14V positive/negative cable clips (1) to the frame.

  14. Connect the 14V positive/negative battery cable.
  15. Install the red CPA retainer.
  16. Tighten the 14V positive/negative battery cable bolt (1).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  18. Install the junction block to the bracket.
  19. Install the harness clip bolt (1) to the junction block bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  21. Install the positive cable to the UBEC.
  22. Install the nut at the UBEC.
  23. Position the positive cable to the UBEC.
  24. Tighten the positive battery cable bolt at the UBEC.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  26. Install the UBEC cover.
  27. Install the left fender to cowl support brace and bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  29. Connect the positive battery cable.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  31. Snap the positive battery cable cap closed.
  32. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery)  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) .

  34. Connect the ESB. Refer to Energy Storage Box (ESB) Service Disconnect/Connect (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2) .
