Installation Procedure

  1. Install the HCM to the bracket.
  2. Install the HCM bracket (5) to the fan shroud.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the HCM bracket bolts (3, 4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the radiator hose to the clip.
  6. Close the hose clamp on top of the fan shroud.
  7. Connect the HCM electrical connector.
    1. Install the electrical connector.
    2. Slide the gray lever rearward completely until it locks.

  9. Connect the ESB. Refer to Energy Storage Box (ESB) Service Disconnect/Connect (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2) .
  10. Program the HCM. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Vehicle Control Systems.
