Removal Procedure

  1. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor.

  3. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.

  5. Remove the air cleaner adapter nut.

  7. In order to remove the air cleaner outlet duct, pivot the duct upward until the hinge clip releases from the lip on the throttle body.

  9. Remove the cooling fan. Refer to Fan Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.3L.
  11. Remove the wiring harness bracket bolt.

  13. Remove the heater hose bracket bolt.

  15. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (4.3L Engine)  or Generator Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L Engines)  or Generator Replacement (6.6L (LB7) Engine)  or Generator Replacement (6.6L (LLY) Engine)  or Generator Replacement (8.1L Engine) .
  16. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 4.3L.
  17. Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement - Right or Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement - without Air Conditioning in Engine Mechanical - 4.3L.
  18. Remove the generator bracket bolts and nut.
  19. Remove the generator bracket.
