Removal Procedure

- Remove the energy storage box (ESB) intermediate cover. Refer to Energy Storage Box (ESB) Trim Cover Replacement (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2) .
- Note the routing of the internal signal harness for ease of reassembly.
- Disconnect the battery resistor electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the battery temperature sensor electrical connectors.
- Remove the energy storage control module (ESCM). Refer to Energy Storage Control Module Replacement (5.3L Engine w/RPO HP2) .
- Disconnect the ESB fan electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the battery cut-off switch electrical connector.
- Disconnect the high current sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the ground wire screw.
- Disengage the retainers (1, 2) securing the harness.
- Remove the internal signal harness from the ESB.
