Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
  3. Loosen the charged air cooler outlet duct clamp (1).
    IMPORTANT: Do not use a screwdriver or other tool to pry the hose loose. The hose can be torn or damaged. Loosen the hose by twisting.

  4. Remove the charged air cooler outlet duct.
  5. Loosen the charged air cooler inlet duct to turbocharger clamp (1).
    IMPORTANT: Do not use a screwdriver or other tool to pry the hose loose. The hose can be torn or damaged. Loosen the hose by twisting.

  6. Remove the charged air cooler inlet duct from the turbocharger.
  7. Remove the engine wiring harness. Refer to Engine Wiring Harness Assembly Replacement .
  8. Remove the water outlet tube. Refer to Water Outlet Tube Replacement (6.6L (LB7) Engine) or Water Outlet Tube Replacement (6.6L (LLY) Engine) in Engine Cooling.
  9. Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipes from the chassis pipes. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar) .
  10. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor/power steering pump bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor and Power Steering Pump Mounting Bracket Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 6.6L.
  11. Remove the heater pipe bolt and pipe.

  12. Remove the fuel pipe clip bolt and clip.

  13. Remove the fuel pipe clip bolts and clips on the intake.

  14. Remove the fuel feed front pipe bracket nuts.

  15. Remove the fuel feed front hose from the fuel feed front pipe.
  16. Remove the fuel feed front pipe (1).
