Removal Procedure

IMPORTANT: Clean the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe connections and surrounding area prior to disconnecting the fittings in order to avoid possible fuel system contamination.
  1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Pickup)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Pickup - 5.3L (L59) Engine)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (1500 Crew Cab)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Cab/Chassis - Front)  or Fuel Tank Replacement (Cab/Chassis - Rear) .
  2. Disconnect and remove the EVAP purge line (2) from the sending unit and retaining clips. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .
  3. Disconnect and remove the EVAP fuel level vent valve (FLVV) line (3) from the sending unit and retaining clips. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) .

  4. Cap the fuel feed and EVAP openings in order to prevent possible fuel/EVAP system contamination.
