Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra and 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Position the NEW seal in the front case with the part number facing out.

  2. Using J 44731  install the input shaft seal.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  4. Position the clutch actuator cylinder.
  5. Install the clutch actuator cylinder bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

  6. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
  7. Install the rear propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement - One Piece or Propeller Shaft Replacement - Two Piece in Propeller Shaft.
  8. Check the transmission fluid level. Add if necessary.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
