Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra and 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent to the oil drain and fill plug threads.

  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  3. Using J 36511  install the oil drain plug.

    Tighten:  Tighten the plug to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  4. Remove and drain the drain pan used to catch the used transmission fluid.

  6. Fill the transmission to just below the bottom of the fill plug hole. Refer to Lubrication Specifications .
  7. Using J 36511  install the oil fill plug.

    Tighten:  Tighten the plug to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
