Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper .
  2. Remove the center console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement (w/Console Mounting Bracket)  or Console Replacement (w/o Console Mounting Bracket) .
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) .
  4. Remove the driver side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  5. Remove the lower I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Lower .
  6. Remove the passenger side air bag module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  7. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  8. Remove the HVAC control. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems-Automatic or HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems-Manual.
  9. Remove the accessory switch housing. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement .
  10. Remove the left air louver housing. Refer to Deflector Replacement - Instrument Panel Air - Left in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  12. Remove the communication interface module, if equipped. Refer to Communication Interface Module Replacement in Cellular Communication.
  13. Remove the remote control door lock receiver module, if equipped. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
  14. Remove the data link connector from the I/P. Refer to Data Link Connector Replacement in Data Link Communications.
  15. Remove the park brake release lever from the I/P. Refer to Park Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.
  16. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  17. Remove both front window air ducts from the I/P assembly.
  18. Remove the harness from the I/P. Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left and Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Right .
  19. Remove the I/P assembly retaining bolts (3) and nuts (4).

  21. Remove all harness hold down retainers from the I/P assembly.
  22. Remove the I/P assembly from the vehicle.
