Remote Playback Device Inoperative

Remote Playback Device Inoperative

1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check-Entertainment System? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn ON the radio.
  3. Insert a tape, CD, or CD magazine with at least 1 audio CD inside, into the remote playback device.
  4. Turn ON the remote playback device.
Does the remote playback device operate normally?
Go toTesting for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the remote playback device.
  3. Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the remote playback device for a short to ground or an open. Refer toCircuit Testing andWiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 4 
4 Test the ground circuit of the remote playback device for high resistance or an open. Refer toCircuit Testing andWiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

5 Test the radio on signal circuit of the remote playback device for a short to ground or an open. Refer toCircuit Testing andWiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 6 
6 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the remote playback device. Refer toTesting for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections andConnector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

7 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the radio. Refer toTesting for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections andConnector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

8 Replace the remote playback device. Refer toRemote CD Player Replacement .

9 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
